The Indianapolis Racers were a professional ice hockey team of the now defunct World Hockey Association. They existed for five seasons and folded 25 games into the 1978-79 WHA Season, as one of the last seven WHA teams to remain.

They are especially remembered for being the first professional team to secure the services of Wayne Gretzky, whom, due to financial problems, they sold to fellow WHA team Edmonton Oilers after only 8 games.
