Iiro Pakarinen (born on August 25, 1991 in Suonenjoki) is a Finnish professional ice hockey right/left winger who currently plays with the Jokerit of the KHL. The Florida Panthers chose him 184th overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
Club career[]
Pakarinen played junior hockey with the KalPa organisation. He made his senior debut during the 2009-10 season when he played 11 games with the KalPa under-20 team, 38 regular season games plus 12 play-off games with the KalPa of the SM-liiga and 6 games on loan with the Suomi U20 of the Mestis.
In the 2010-11 season played Pakarinen 4 games with the KalPa under-20 team, 46 regular season games and 7 play-off games with the KalPa of the SM-liiga and 3 games on loan with the Suomi U20 of the Mestis.
Pakarinen then continued with the KalPa of the SM-liiga in the 2011-12 season.
In 2012 - 2014 played Pakarinen with the HIFK of the SM-liiga (since the 2013-14 season called the Liiga).
Next four seasons spent Pakarinen with the Edmonton Oilers organisation. In the 2014-15 season played Pakarinen 17 games with the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL and 39 games with the Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL. In the next season, he played 63 games with the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL and 4 games with the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL. In the 2016-17 season appeared Pakarinen in just 14 regular season games and 1 play-off game with the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL and 5 games with the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL. In his final season with the Edmonton Oilers organisation played Pakarinen 40 games with the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL and 18 games with the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL.
In 2018, Pakarinen moved back to Europe and played the 2018-19 season with the Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the KHL.
Then spent Pakarinen one season with the Barys Nur-Sultan of the KHL.
Since 2020 is Pakarinen playing with the Jokerit of the KHL. He is currently signed there until the end of the 2022-23 season.
International career[]
Pakarinen played with the Finnish National Team at the 2009 World U18 Championship (winning there bronze), 2010 and 2011 World Junior Championships and at the 2014 World Championship (winning there silver).
