Hynek Zohorna was born on August 1, 1990 in Havlíčkův Brod. He is a Czech ice hockey right winger/center currently playing with the Amur Khabarovsk of the KHL.
Hynek has two brothers, older Tomáš and younger Radim. They also play ice hockey. All three used to play together in HC Kometa Brno. They also played together in one line in the Czech National Team few times.
Club career[]
Hynek Zohorna began his junior career with the HC Hradec Králové organisation.
In 2008, he moved to the HC Slavia Praha organisation to play there with their junior team. He played there only 4 regular season games and 2 play-off games in that season. He was loaned for the biggest part of the season to the HC Havlíčkův Brod organisation. He played 14 games with the HC Havlíčkův Brod of the 1. Liga and he also played with the HC Havlíčkův Brod junior team. From HC Havlíčkův Brod, he was also loaned on 3 games to the HC Pelhřimov of the 2. Liga.
In the 2009-10 season, Hynek Zohorna played almost all of his games with the HC Slavia Praha junior team. He played there 50 regular season games plus 9 play-off games this season. He was also loaned on one regular season game and 2 play-off games to the HC Havlíčkův Brod of the 1. Liga.
In 2010, Hynek Zohorna moved to the HC Havlíčkův Brod organisation. He finished there his junior career playing 9 games with the junior team of the HC Havlíčkův Brod. In that season he played 40 regular season games and 14 play-off games with the HC Havlíčkův Brod of the 1. Liga.
In 2011, Hynek Zohorna advanced to the next level and signed with the HC Kometa Brno of the Tipsport Extraliga. He played there 51 regular season games plus 20 play-off games in his first season. Kometa finished second losing in the finals. In his first season with the Kometa, he was also loaned to the HC Havlíčkův Brod of the 1. Liga and he played there 9 games this season.
In the 2012-13 season, Hynek Zohorna played with the HC Kometa Brno all 52 regular season games. Kometa's performance in the regular season was so bad that the team had to play in the relegation group, but they remained in the Tipsport Extraliga for the next season. Hynek Zohorna played another 6 games in the relegation group.
In the 2013-14 season, Hynek Zohorna played 48 regular season games and 17 play-off games with the HC Kometa Brno. Kometa finished second losing in the finals again, just as in the 2011-12 season. In this season, Hynek Zohorna was loaned on 3 games to the SK Horácká Slavia Třebíč of the 1. Liga and on 2 games to the HC Havlíčkův Brod of the 1. Liga.
In the 2014-15 season, Hynek Zohorna missed a big part of the season due to an injury. He played only 19 regular season games and 10 play-off games with the HC Kometa Brno this season finishing third after losing in the semifinals. In this season, he also played 7 games on loan with the HC Havlíčkův Brod of the 1. Liga.
In the 2015-16 season, he played only for the HC Kometa Brno. He played 49 regular season games and 4 play-off games.
In the 2016-17 season, Hynek Zohorna played with the HC Kometa Brno of the Tipsport Extraliga again. He was also loaned on 7 games to the HC Dynamo Pardubice of the Tipsport Extraliga in the middle of the season. In this season, he played 39 regular season games and 14 play-off games with the HC Kometa Brno winning the Tipsport Extraliga title.
For the next season, Hynek Zohorna stayed with the HC Kometa Brno and played there another 51 regular season games and 14 play-off games winning the Tipsport Extraliga title twice in the row. He scored most shorthanded goals in the Tipsport Extraliga (2) and most goals in the play-offs (8).
In 2018, Hynek Zohorna decided to move to Finland to play with the Pelicans of the Liiga. He scored 39 points in 48 regular season games and 2 points in 6 play-off games.
Since 2019, Hynek is playing with the Amur Khabarovsk of the KHL. In the 2019-20 season, Hynek Zohorna also played at the KHL All-star Game. He is signed there until the end of the 2020-21 season
