Hockey Club Amiens Somme is a professional French ice hockey team based in Amiens, France. It is nicknamed the Gothiques d'Amiens (in English, the Amiens Gothics).
History[]
The club was founded in 1967 as part of the multisports club Amiens Sporting Club following the inauguration of the first ice rink of the city of Amiens. In 1982, the club earned a promotion to the elite. However, in 1990, poor financial results by the Amiens SC forced the hockey section, that was until then known as the Écureuils de Picardie, to split and exist as an autonomous entity. The name Hockey Club Amiens Somme and nickname Gothiques d'Amiens were then adopted.
The current ice facilities of the team, the Coliséum, was founded in 1996. It is a 3000 seater that hosts one of the most enthusiastic crowd of France; the fans witnessed their team become French champions in 1999 and 2004.
