The Hitachi Energy Arena previously the Appalachian Exposition Center or the APEX Center is an indoor multi-purpose arena located in Wytheville, Virginia. The facility opened in 2019 and seats about 3,700 for ice hockey and 5,330 for concerts.
On November 7, 2022 the arena was announced as being home to a Federal Prospects Hockey League for the 2023-24 season.[1] The arena didn't have an ice plant at the time of the announcement but will have one installed during the winter of 2022-23.
On June 19, 2024 a naming rights agreement was announced for the facility which would rename the facility. The agreement runs through 2029 with a renewal option through 2034. As part of the agreement upgrades will be funded for the facility which includes replacing most of the seats and adjusting the incline of the stands to enhance hockey viewing.[2]
