The Guelph Royals were a Junior A hockey club that played in the Ontario Hockey Association (now known as the OHL).


Junior Team[]

History[]

The Royals replaced the Guelph Biltmores in the Ontario Hockey Association's Junior A series in 1960.

They finished in first place in their first season, led by Rod Gilbert.

The Royals finished out of the playoffs the next two seasons.

Their NHL parent, New York Rangers moved the team to Kitchener after they moved their minor professional farm team from Kitchener to Baltimore. The Royals became the Kitchener Rangers.

History[]

After the junior Royals moved out, their place in Guelph was taken by a Senior A team named the Regals.

The Regals lasted five seasons( 1963-64 - 1967-68), winning the Ontario Hockey Association title in 1966.
