Warwick with the Montreal Canadiens
Grant David Warwick (October 11, 1921 - September 27, 1999) was a right winger who played 9 seasons in the National Hockey League. He won the Calder Trophy in 1942. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Warwick played 395 career NHL games, scoring 147 goals and 142 assists for 289 points. His brother Bill Warwick also played professional hockey.
Playing Career[]
He is perhaps best remembered as a member and coach of the Penticton V's who won the 1955 World Championship.
Warwick got his release from the Buffalo Bisons in 1952 and joined the senior V's in the 1952-53 season. They won the Allan Cup in 1954 and were named as Canada's representative in the 1955 World Championship in Germany.
The V's beat the Soviet National Team 5-0 to clinch the title that the Soviets had taken in 1954.
Warwick would go on to play one more season for the V's and then a season for the Trail Smoke Eaters and one for the Kamloops Chiefs before retiring in 1958.
