Gordon Robinson "Gosh" Pettinger (b. November 11, 1911 in Harrogate, England, Great Britain - d. April 12, 1986) is a retired British professional ice hockey centre who played 8 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings, and Boston Bruins. Pettinger won four Stanley Cups with three different teams, the 1933 New York Rangers, 1936 and 1937 Detroit Red Wings, and the 1939 Boston Bruins. He is one of only ten players in Stanley Cup history to win the Cup with three different teams. He grew up in Regina, Saskatchewan.
He played junior hockey for the Regina Pats from 1928 to 1930, winning the Memorial Cup in 1930. The New York Rangers signed him as a free agent in 1930 and he turned pro with the Vancouver Lions.
Pettinger started his NHL career for the Rangers in 1932-33, winning the Stanley Cup. He was traded the next season to the Detroit Red Wings. Pettinger stayed there for six seasons, winning the Stanley Cup in 1936 and 1937.
He got his last Stanley Cup in 1937-38 when he was traded to the Boston Bruins. Pettinger stayed there for three seasons. After 1940 he played in the minors and finished off his career with his hometown Regina Capitals in 1945-46.
His brother Eric Pettinger played in the NHL for several teams, including the Boston Bruins and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
