Selected by Detroit Red Wings 2nd round (#28) in 1978 NHL Amateur Draft
is a former professional ice hockey left winger. He played for the NHL's Detroit Red Wings and the Winnipeg Jets of the WHA.
He played junior hockey for the Flin Flon Bombers from 1975 to 1978 and was chosen 28th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1978 NHL Amateur Draft. Hicks chose to join the Winnipeg Jets of the World Hockey Association (WHA) for the 1978-79 season where he scored 6 goals and 10 assists in 69 games. When the WHA folded the Red Wings reclaimed him. Hicks played two seasons for the Wings before being demoted to the minors.
He played in the minors and in Switzerland until his retirement in 1987.
In the NHL (all with Detroit) he scored 6 goals and 12 assists in 108 games.
