Gary George Inness (born May 28, 1949 in Toronto, Ontario) is a retired Canadian ice hockey goaltender.

Playing career[]

He played Junior "B" with the Weston Dukes and then joined McMaster University from 1968 to 1972 and the University of Toronto in 1972-73. Inness graduated withe intention of becoming a teacher, but went to a Pittsburgh Penguins camp in 1973. The Penguins signed him as a free agent and Inness would play for parts of almost three seasons in Pittsburgh. He was the number one goalie in 1974-75 but saw reduced ice time in 1975-76.

Inness was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in mid-season 1975-76. He did not see much action as Bernie Parent's backup. After his stint with the Flyers, he would play for s season and a half in the World Hockey Association with the Indianapolis Racers.

He returned to the NHL and signed with the Washington Capitals, where he played for parts of three seasons before retiring at the end of the 1980–81 NHL season.

Innes played in 162 NHL games in his career.
