Göran Högosta (b. April 15th 1954 in Äppelbo, Dalarna, Sweden) is a former professional goaltender who played in the Elitserien for Leksands IF and Västra Frölunda HC and in the National Hockey League for the New York Islanders and the Quebec Nordiques.
Högosta holds the distinction of being the first ever European born and trained goaltender to play in the NHL when, on November 1st 1977, he played nine minutes in replacement of Billy Smith in a 9-0 shutout of the Atlanta Flames[1].
