French River is a municipality located in the Sudbury District of the province of Ontario, Canada. The municipality was formed in 1999 from previously unincorporated portions of the northern portion of the district. The region was previously referred to as Sudbury East. The municipality includes the communites of Alban, Montetville, Noelville and North Monetville. The municipality had a population of 2,442 in 2011. The municipality is bi-lingual with a breakdown of approximately 60% Anglophoones and 40% Francophones.
