Overview[]
"Cascades" is the name of the sports teams from the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), located in Abbotsford, British Columbia. It was formerly known as Fraser Valley College when established in 1974 then became University College of the Fraser Valley in 1988. It became UFV in 2008. UFV is a member of the Canada West Universities Athletic Association (CWUAA) and U Sports (formerly known as CIS), however have never participated in the men's or women's hockey leagues. They were in the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League (BCIHL) from 2005-06 to 2010-11.
Players from the University of the Fraser Valley were to become eligible to play on the Fraser Valley Brigade, an independent collegiate transfer team in the BCIHL, in 2022-23. However, that team failed to come to fruition.
