Canadian Car was one of the most important employers in Fort William. It normally built railway cars. During World War II it built warplanes.
The company sponsored hockey teams. In 1940-41 its team won the Thunder Bay intermediate championship but lost out in the 1940-41 Western Canada Intermediate Playoffs.
In 1943-44 the team went up to the senior ranks. It lost in a two-team league to the Port Arthur Shipbuilders.
