The Finnish Ice Hockey Association (in Finnish: Suomen Jääkiekkoliitto) is the governing body of ice hockey in Finland. The Association was formed on January 20th 1929, two years after the Finnish Skating Organization had introduced ice hockey as its new branch of activities. Upon its creation, the Finnish Ice Hockey Association counted 17 clubs as members.
Through very humble beginnings at the international stage, Finland has been enjoying much success since the late 1980's and now ranks as one of the world's top hockey nations, with the Finnish National Team ranked 3rd worldwide and the Women's Finnish National Team ranked 4th.
