Filip Hållander[1] (born on June 29, 2000 in Sundsvall) is a Swedish ice hockey left winger/center currently playing with the Luleå HF of the SHL on loan from the Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL. He was selected in the 2nd round, 58th overall, by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
Club career[]
Hållander played junior hockey with the Timrå IK organisation. He made his senior debut during the 2016-17 season when he played 8 regular season games and 3 qualification games with the Timrå IK of the HockeyAllsvenskan. He also played 4 games with the Timrå IK under-18 team and 34 regular season games and 4 play-off games with the Timrå IK under-20 team in the same season.
During the 2017-18 season played Hållander 1 game with the Timrå IK under-20 team and 40 regular season games and 9 qualification games with the Timrå IK of the HockeyAllsvenskan and helped the team gain the promotion to the SHL.
On July 15, 2018, Hållander signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins organisation.[2]
He was returned to continue his development with original club, the Timrå IK, after gaining promotion to the SHL. In the 2018-19 season, Hållander scored 7 goals and 14 assists in 45 regular season games as a rookie during his first SHL season and was the second best point producer for the Timrå IK in their relegation games with 5 goals and 3 assists in 7 matches, in their relegation and return to the HockeyAllsvenskan.
On April 29, 2019, Hållander signed a two-year contract to remain on loan in the SHL from the Penguins with Luleå HF.[3]
On August 25, 2020, Hållander was traded by the Penguins to the Toronto Maple Leafs organisation along with Evan Rodrigues, David Warsofsky and the 15th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for Kasperi Kapanen, Jesper Lindgren and Pontus Åberg[4] but still continued on loan with the Luleå HF of the SHL.
Hållander is signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs until the end of the 2022-23 season.
International career[]
Hållander played with the Swedish National Team at the 2016 World U17 Hockey Challenge (winning there gold medal), 2017 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament (winning there bronze medal) and at the 2019 World Junior Championship.
