Filip Chytil (born on September 5, 1999 in Kroměříž) is a Czech professional ice hockey center currently playing with the New York Rangers of the NHL. He was drafted by the New York Rangers in the first round, 21st overall, in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.[1]
Club career[]
Chytil played junior hockey with the HC Zlín organisation. He made his senior debut with the PSG Zlín of the Tipsport Extraliga during the 2016-17 season. He recorded four goals and four assists in 38 regular season games and one goal and one assist in 2 relegation games, which was the second highest total of games played, goals, assists and points among all players under age 18 in the league. He also played 2 regular season games and1 play-off game with the HC Zlín under-20 team.
Shortly after the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, Chytil was selected seventh overall in the CHL Import Draft by the North Bay Battalion.[2] On July 15, 2017, Chytil signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the New York Rangers organisation.[3]
After participating in the New York Rangers' of the NHL training camp, Chytil impressed and was selected by the local media with the Lars-Erik Sjöberg Award as top rookie in camp.[4] He made it through the pre-season to earn a spot on the Rangers' opening night roster for the 2017-18 season.[5] He secured a scoring role playing between Mats Zuccarello and Rick Nash.[5] However, after playing two games at the NHL level, he was reassigned to the Rangers' AHL affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack.[6] Chytil and fellow first round pick Lias Andersson were called-up by the Rangers on March 25, 2018.[7] He recorded his first NHL goal on March 30, 2018 in a 7-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.[8] All in all, Chytil played 9 games with the New York Rangers of the NHL and 46 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL in the 2017-18 season.
In the next season played Chytil exclusively with the New York Rangers of the NHL.
In the 2019-20 season appeared Chytil in 60 regular season games and 3 play-off games with the New York Rangers of the NHL and in 9 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL.
In the 2020-21 season continued Chytil with the New York Rangers of the NHL.
On 29 July 2021, Chytil was re-signed to a two-year contract by the Rangers. [9]

Chytil was a member of the Czech National Team at the 2015 World U17 Hockey Challenge, 2016 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament (winning there gold[10]), 2017 World U18 Championship, 2018 World Junior Championship and at the 2018 and 2019 World Championships.
