The Donald C. Watson Rink was an indoor arena located in the Allston neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts.
The arena became the first indoor home of the Harvard Crimson men's ice hockey program after the team played on an outdoor rink located within Franklin Park which is located in the area connecting the Roxbury, Dorchester, and Jamaica Plain neighborhoods of Boston from 1897 to 1956. The team also used Harvard Stadium as a home for some games during this time as the between 1904 and 1911 as the stadium was converted into several sheets of ice during the winter. The team would also use the Boston Arena (now Matthews Arena) for some games after it opened in 1909.
The rink itself replaced an outdoor arena that was located on the same site.
The arena served as home of the Harvard Crimson men's ice hockey team from 1956 to 1978. The arena was located just north of Harvard Stadium. The arena was located within the footprint what is now the Bright Hockey Center. By the mid-1970's it had become apparent that the arena was becoming inadequate. The arena held 2,000 but was lacking in modern amenities. Following the conclusion of the 1977-78 hockey season the walls were removed from the facility and the roof was extended. A new facility costing $5 million was built under the roof. The Crimson would play the 1978-79 season at various facilities around the city of Boston.
