The Long Beach Shredders are an American junior hockey team. The team was announced on May 8, 2021 to begin play in the United States Premier Hockey League's Premier League. The team plays in the Pacific Division. The team is based out of the Lakewood Ice in Lakewood, California. The team came into existence as a result of Emerson Etem, a Long Beach, California native and 2010 NHL Entry Draft selection of the Anaheim Ducks purchasing and relocating the Anaheim Avalanche to Lakewood. Etem will also serve as head coach and general manager.
The team was established in 2012 as the Ontario Avalanche in the Western States Hockey League. The team would be announced as relocating to Anaheim, California for the 2020-21 season as part of an ownership change. They would later be announced as joining the United States Premier Hockey League's Premier League for the 2020-21 season as part of a major shift of Tier III junior teams in the Western United States from the WSHL to the USPHL.
