Alena Polenska is a women's ice hockey player that competes for the Brown Bears of the ECAC. In addition, Polenska is the captain of the Czech Republic women's national ice hockey team.
Playing career[]
She won a bronze medal for the Czech Republic at the 2008 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship. In the bronze medal game, Polenska scored two goals.[1] At the 2008 Roller Hockey World Championships, she won a gold medal. It marked the first time that a European team had won the event. On August 12, 2010, she was named captain of the Czech Republic Olympic Development Team.[2]
NCAA[]
Polenska joined the Brown Bears in the autumn of 2009 and appeared in 28 games during her freshman campaign. Her five goals tied for first on the squad.[3] Her 96 shots on goal led all Bears skaters. On January 31, 2010 versus Yale, she registered two assists. In an exhibtion game versus the Etobicoke Dolphins on October 17, 2010, Polenska scored two goals in a 5-2 victory.[4]
Czech Republic[]

She was member of the Czech women's national team that won the gold medal at the 2011 IIHF Division II World Championships in Caen, France. She was fourth in scoring with two goals and three assists. Two of her teammates on the Czech Republic gold medal winning team also attended Wyoming Seminary in Pennsylvania. Lucie Popova and Nikola Tomigova, were both former graduates of the school. Polenska had eight assists in the tournament. All three ladies played on the same line, called the "American line."[5]
Polenska was the team captain for the Czech contingent which competed at the 2013 IIHF Women’s World Championships. It had marked the first time that the Czech Republic participated in the Women’s Worlds.
