The Esso Cup Atlantic Regional is the final qualifying round for the Esso Cup. The tournament presently involves the New Brunswick Midget AAA Female Hockey League, Maritime Major Female Hockey League, Prince Edward Island Female Midget AAA Hockey League, and Newfoundland and Labrador Female U18 AAA Hockey League. A host team also qualifies for the tournament.
The first qualifying tournaments were held in 2009 when Hockey Canada established a women's Major midget's (now U18) national championship in the Esso Cup. Previously, an Atlantic Female Midget AAA Championship had been staged in 2008.
