Eric Rud is a former hockey player and coach. He was born November 20, 1972 in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. He played juniors with the Des Moines Buccaneers of the United States Hockey League in 1991-92 and 1992-93. He would then play collegiate hockey with the Colorado College Tigers men's ice hockey team from 1993-94 to 1996-97. He would then play minor league hockey with the San Antonio Dragons,Quebec Rafales, Kansas City Blades, and Utah Grizzlies of the International Hockey League (1945–2001), the Florida Everblades of the ECHL and the Idaho Steelheads of the West Coast Hockey League prior to retiring after the 2001-02 season. He would serve as a player-assistant coach with the Everblades and the Steelheads over the last three seasons of his playing career. He would then become an assistant coach with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the USHL for 2002-03 and 2003-04. He would serve as assistant coach for Colorado College in 2004-05 and then as assistant coach of the St. Cloud State Huskies men's ice hockey team from 2005-06 to 2009-10. He would serve as GM and head coach of the Green Bay Gamblers of the USHL for the 2010-11 season and then return to Colorado College in 2011 as assistant coach, staying there until becoming the head coach of the St. Cloud State Huskies women's ice hockey in 2014. He would serve as the head coach until the 2018-19 season. He would become the associate head coach of the Miami RedHawks men's ice hockey team in 2019 and remain there until becoming head coach of the Sioux Falls Stampede of the USHL in 2022.
