The Edmonton Royals are a Junior "B" team in Edmonton, Alberta. They play in the Capital Junior Hockey League. They play out of Confederation Arena.
Pre-Royals history
The Junior B team was formed in 1986 when the Colorfast Junior BB team was renamed the Strathcona Legion upon joining the Edmonton Junior Hockey League for the 1987-88 season. The team kept the Legion identity upon joining the Capital Junior Hockey League. The team was force to sit out the 1989-90 season when the team lost its sponsorship.
Royals begin
The Royals and took over the identity of the Strathcona Legion when the team was reorganized and returned to the ice for the 1990-91 season. The team has ties to the Southwest Zone Hockey Association dating back to its pre-junior BB days.
The team won the Russ Barnes Trophy in 1999 and 2001 as the provincial junior B champions. The team won the league championship in 1999 and 2006.
