The Edmonton Royals are a Junior "B" team in Edmonton, Alberta. They play in the Capital Junior Hockey League. They play out of Confederation Arena.
Pre-Royals history[]
The Junior B team was formed in 1986 when the Colorfast Junior BB team was renamed the Strathcona Legion upon joining the Edmonton Junior Hockey League for the 1987-88 season. The team kept the Legion identity upon joining the Capital Junior Hockey League. The team was forced to sit out the 1989-90 season when the team lost its sponsorship.
Royals begin[]
The Royals and took over the identity of the Strathcona Legion when the team was reorganized and returned to the ice for the 1990-91 season. The team has ties to the Southwest Zone Hockey Association dating back to its pre-junior BB days.
The team won the Russ Barnes Trophy in 1999 and 2001 as the provincial junior B champions. The team won the league championship in 1999 and 2006.

Note-Due to unforeseen circumstances a January 23, 2022 game versus the North Edmonton Red Wings was stopped early in the overtime period and was not able to be resumed resulting in a tie in the standings.
