Mašín began playing junior hockey with the HC Slavia Praha organisation. During the 2013-14 season, Mašín was the Czech U20's most penalized player with 102 penalty minutes.[1]
Mašín was rated as a top prospect[2] who was ranked 18th on the NHL Central Scouting Bureau's mid-term ranking of International skaters,[3] rising to the 10th spot with the release of their final rankings in April 2014.[4] In 2014, he moved to North America to spent two seasons with the Peterborough Petes of the OHL.
Senior[]
On October 13, 2015, the Tampa Bay Lightning of the NHL signed Mašín to a three-year, entry-level contract.[5]
He made his professional debut with the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL on April 9, 2016 following the conclusion of his junior season with 40 points scored in 57 regular season games and 3 points in 7 play-off games with the Peterborough Petes of the OHL. In four games with the Crunch at the end of the 2015-16 AHL season, he posted zero points and a +1 rating.
Mašín continued with the Crunch until the end of the 2019-20 season. He is 6th all-time in game played with the Crunch, with 58 points and 303 penalty minutes in 273 games.
On July 1, 2020, a report surfaced that Mašín would sign as a restricted free agent from the Lightning with Russian club, the Amur Khabarovsk of the KHL.[6] It was later confirmed by the club on August 7, 2020.[7] He signed there a one-year contract.
International career[]
As a member of the Czech National Team, Mašín participated at the 2013 European Youth Olympic Festival,[8] and captained the Czech team at the 2013 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament,[9] and at the 2013 World Junior A Challenge.[10][11]
One year later, Mašín also captained the Czech squad at the 2014 World U18 Championship where the Czech Republic won the silver medal and then he also participated at the 2015 and 2016 World Junior Championships (at the 2016 tournament again as the captain). At the 2016 tournament, Mašín was named one of the top 3 players on the Czech team.
