Dominik Frodl (born on April 16, 1996 in Praha) is a Czech ice hockey goaltender currently playing with the HC Plzeň of the Tipsport Extraliga.

Club career[]

Frodl began playing ice hockey with the HC Slavia Praha organisation. He played junior hockey only with the HC Slavia Praha with an exception in the 2011-12 season when he played with the HC Hvězda Praha organisation.

He made his senior debut in the 2014-15 season when he played one game with the NED Hockey Nymburk of the 2. Liga while he also played in 32 games with the HC Slavia Praha under-20 team. He was also the second goalie in a few games with the HC Slavia Praha of the Tipsport Extraliga but did not play a single second.

In the 2015-16 season played Frodl 4 regular season games and 1 Tipsport Extraliga qualification game with the HC Slavia Praha which was demoted for this season into the WSM Liga, 6 games with the NED Hockey Nymburk of the 2. Liga and 22 regular season games and 5 play-off games with the HC Slavia Praha under-20 team.

In 2016 - 2018, Frodl played with the HC Slavia Praha of the WSM Liga and became one of its best goaltenders. In the 2017-18 season, Frodl was also written on the roster of the HK Hradec Králové of the Tipsport Extraliga and was their second goalie in a few games but did not intervene in a game.

Since 2018, Frodl is playing with the HC Plzeň of the Tipsport Extraliga. He immediately became one of the best goalkeepers of the Tipsport Extraliga. In the 2018-19 season had Frodl the best goals against average (1.89) among all goalies of the Tipsport Extraliga and in the 2019-20 season had Frodl most shutouts (7) and most wins (29) in the Tipsport Extraliga. He is currently signed with the HC Plzeň until the end of the 2020-21 season.
