This article is about the team in the Great Lakes Junior Hockey League. For the team in the Ontario Hockey League see the Detroit Junior Red Wings. For the team in the Southern Ontario Junior A Hockey League, see the Detroit Jr. Red Wings (SOJHL).

The Detroit Jr. Wings were a Tier II Junior "A" team in Detroit, Michigan. They played in the Great Lakes Junior Hockey League from 1975 to 1983.

The team appears to have suspended operations for the the 1983-84 season and the franchise may have been reactivated as the Compuware Ambassadors for the 1985-86 season.  The Ambassadors oganization had already existed since the mid-70's and was owned by Peter Karmanos. He would later attempt to purchase several OHL franchises and was unsucessful at bringing a team to Detroit. He would eventually acquire an expansion team; the Detroit Compuware Ambassadors for the 1990-91 season.  However, another Detroit Jr. Wings team  that was based out of Fraser, Michigan played in the North American Junior Hockey League from 1987 to 1992. That team appears to have been renamed the Detroit Freeze that would play from 1992 to 1997 and then become the Chicago Freeze for 1997-2003 when the team relocated to the Fox Valley Ice Arena.
