Deer Lake Red Wings

Deer Lake Red Wings

The Deer Lake Red Wings are a senior ice hockey team based in Deer Lake, Newfoundland and Labrador as a part of the Newfoundland West Coast Senior Hockey League.

They won the Herder Memorial Trophy in 2004-05.

The team would go out of existence when the Newfoundland West Coast Senior Hockey League would merge with the Avalon East Senior Hockey League in 2011 to for the Newfoundland Senior Hockey League (2011-2014).

A new incarnation of the team would come into existence when a new Newfoundland West Coast Senior Hockey League would begin play for the 2016-17 season.

NHL Connection

Without a doubt, Darren Langdon is one of Deer Lake's most popular players, mostly because of his former NHL career. Langdon has played for the New York Rangers, Carolina Hurricanes, Vancouver Canucks, Montreal Canadiens and New Jersey Devils.

Another ex-NHLer who plays for the Red Wings is Harold Druken.
