David Kaše (born on January 28, 1997 in Kadaň) is a Czech professional ice hockey right/left winger currently playing on loan with the HC Energie Karlovy Vary of the Tipsport Extraliga and being under contract with the Philadelphia Flyers of the NHL. Kaše was drafted in the fifth-round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, 128th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers.[1]
His older brother Ondřej also plays ice hockey.
Club career[]
David Kaše began his junior career with the SK Kadaň organisation and in the middle of the 2010-11 season he moved to the KLH Chomutov (later Piráti Chomutov) organisation. He made his senior debut in the 2014-15 season playing 30 regular season games and 1 play-off game with the Piráti Chomutov of the 1. Liga while also playing 8 regular season games and 9 play-off games with the Piráti Chomutov junior team. He won the 1. Liga title with the Piráti Chomutov in this season.
During the 2015–16 season, David Kaše played 30 regular season games and 8 play-off games with the Piráti Chomutov now playing in the Tipsport Extraliga.[2][3] He also played 1 regular season game and 2 play-off games with the Piráti Chomutov junior team and 16 games on loan with the SK Kadaň of the WSM Liga (formerly 1. Liga).
In the 2016-17 season, he played 32 regular season games and 15 play-off games with the Piráti Chomutov and 8 games on loan with the SK Kadaň.
In 2017, David Kaše transferred as a free agent to continue his development with the Mora IK of the SHL.[4]
On May 5, 2018, David Kaše agreed to a three-year, entry-level contract with the Philadelphia Flyers of the NHL.[5] Ahead of the 2018–19 season, Kaše was assigned to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the AHL affiliate of the Flyers.[6]
In the 2019–20 season, David Kaše scored his first NHL goal with the Flyers on December 17, 2019, in the second period of a game against the Anaheim Ducks. All in all, in this season played David Kaše 6 games with the Flyers and 51 games with the Phantoms.
On August 12, 2020, David Kaše was loaned by the Flyers to return to the Tipsport Extraliga with the HC Energie Karlovy Vary until the commencement of the delayed 2020–21 North American season.[7]
International career[]
David Kaše played with the Czech National Team at the January 2014 World U17 Hockey Challenge, at the 2014 and 2015 World U18 Championships (winning the silver medal at the 2014 tournament and becoming one of the top 3 player on the Czech squad at the 2015 tournament), captained the Czech team at the 2014 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament (winning the silver medal) and then playing at the 2015, 2016 and 2017 World Junior Championships (being named one of the top 3 players on the Czech team at the 2017 championship).
