Emma's retired number with Boston College

David Anaclethe "Dave" Emma (born January 14, 1969 in Cranston, Rhode Island) is a retired ice hockey player. Emma won the Hobey Baker Award in 1991. Emma would go on to play professionally in the National Hockey League for the New Jersey Devils, Boston Bruins, and Florida Panthers.

He played for the Boston College Eagles from 1987-1991 and, during that time, represented the United States at the 1988 and 1989 World Junior Championships, the 1991 World Championship, and the 1992 Olympics.

The New Jersey Devils selected him 110th overall in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. Turning pro in 1991, he was unable to get a regular spot with the NHL team. A switch to the Boston Bruins in 1996 was also unsuccessful.

In 1997 Emma went to Austria to play four seasons for Klagenfurt AC. He also played for the United States in the 1999 World Championship. He had one last shot with the Florida Panthers in 2000-01 but again did not make it.

Emma signed with the Nuremberg Ice Tigers in 2001 but missed the entire 2001-02 season due to an injury suffered in the pre-season. He retired in 2002.

He played in a total of 34 NHL games, scoring 5 goals and 6 assists.
