Dan Collins (born February 26, 1987 in Syracuse, New York) is an American professional ice hockey forward currently playing for the Johnstown Chiefs of the East Coast Hockey League.
Playing career[]
Collins was drafted 90th overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Florida Panthers. Prior to selection he was drafted by the Plymouth Whalers in the 2nd round (32nd overall) in the OHL Priority Selection draft. Collins 2005–06 season with the Whalers was cut short at the end, due to a herniated disk in his back. In the following 2006–07 season, Collins led the Whalers to the OHL Championship scoring 20 points in the playoffs.
On June 1, 2007, Collins signed a three-year entry level contract with the Panthers. In his first professional season in 2007–08 Collins spent the year between the Panthers AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans and their ECHL affiliate, the Florida Everblades. In 2008–09, he played in Rochester, scoring 18 points in 28 games while accumulating 34 penalty minutes.
On October 8th 2009, Collins was assigned from the Americans to the Johnstown Chiefs for the remainder of 2009–10.[1]
