Dale Weise (born August 5, 1988) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player currently playing for the Montreal Canadiens of the NHL.
Playing career[]
Weise played three-years of junior hockey for the Swift Current Broncos of the WHL. He was drafted by the New York Rangers in the 4th round, 111th overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, signed his first professional contract with the team months later on September 19, 2008, and turned pro that season with the Hartford Wolf Pack.[1] After playing all of the 2008–09 season and most of the 2009–10 season for the minor league Hartford Wolf Pack, Weise was called up to the Rangers for the first time during the regular season on April 4, 2010.[2][3]
After beginning the 2010–11 season with Hartford and missing 18 AHL games due to injury, Weise was recalled by the Rangers on December 17, 2010.[4] He made his NHL debut for the Rangers against the Philadelphia Flyers on December 18, 2010.[5][6][7] During the game he had a goal disallowed and a fight against Dan Carcillo.[5][6][7][8] He was returned to the minors after the game but recalled on December 29, 2010.[6][7][9] He was returned to the minors again on January 23, 2011.[10]
He was placed on waivers on October 4, 2011 and claimed by the Vancouver Canucks. Weise scored his first NHL goal with the Canucks on October 20, 2011 against Pekka Rinne of the Nashville Predators. Canucks went on to win the game 5-1.
Later, he was traded on the February 3, 2014 to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for the swiss defenseman Raphael Diaz.
