The 2. národní hokejová liga (Second National Hockey League) is the third-level ice hockey league in the Czech Republic under the Chance Liga. It began in 1993.
Format[]
For the 2020-21 season, there are 3 divisions. Each division includes 8 teams. There is Division North, Division South and Division East. Teams play their division opponents six times which means every team plays 42 games in the regular season.
Due to COVID-19 pandemic, no play-off is held this season. Teams placed on the 1st place in each division play twice each other, so every team will play 4 games in this qualification. Points from the regular season are not counted in this qualification. The winner of the qualification advance into the Chance Liga for next season.
No team is relegated from Chance Liga for next season due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Into the 2. Liga for next season advance the best 2 teams after the qualification of the regional leagues winners.
Teams gain 3 points for a win after the regular time and 2 points for a win after the overtime or penalty shots while the defeated team gains one point. If necessary, penalty shots are used after the 5-minute 3 on 3 overtime.
