Cristobal Huet (b. September 3rd 1975 in Saint-Martin d'Hères, Isère, France) is a professional goaltender who plays in the National Hockey League for the Chicago Blackhawks.

Only the second French player to play in the NHL (Philippe Bozon was the first), Huet was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings 214th overall of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. He did very well in his first season in North America with the Manchester Monarchs, winning 16 of the 30 games he played, losing only 8 times and adding a shutout; it earned him a call up with the Kings where he won four games and lost as many, also conceding a tie, in 12 games. He became a regular on the Kings' roster the following season, playing 42 games and collecting a 10-16-10 record, with a .907 save percentage and a 2.43 Goal Against Average.

Huet was part of a three-way deal that sent him and Radek Bonk from the Ottawa Senators to Montreal; the Kings received in return Mathieu Garon from the Canadiens. He made his debuts with the Habs in 2005-06, first as a back-up to a struggling José Théodore. Huet's stellar play soon chased Théodore away from his starting goalie spot, and he eventually was traded to the Colorado Avalanche for David Aebischer. Cristobal would share duties in the nets with the Switzerland goalie for the end of the season, but was the starter in the playoffs - in his first NHL playoffs game in career, he recorded a 6-1 win versus future Stanley Cup champions Carolina Hurricanes. His seven shutouts for the season were the highest total of the league, and his .929 save percentage earned him the Roger Crozier Trophy. He carried on his strong play to the 2006-07 season, taking over the starting goalie role from David Aebischer.

If Cristobal Huet is virtually unknown in his native country, he was however loved by the public of Montreal and of the province of Quebec after saving nearly all by himself a 2005-06 season that seemed bound to end up with an absence from the playoffs. Nicknamed le cousin by the French Canadian fans, his strong performances and key stops in home games usually result in a part of the French national hymn, La Marseillaise, being played in the Bell Centre.

He was traded to the Washington Capitals for a 2008 second round pick, on February 26th, 2008. His stay with the Caps was short-lived, as he signed as a free agent with the Chicago Blackhawks in the summer of 2008.
