Courtney Unruh (born February 7, 1987) was an ice hockey player for the Mercyhurst Lakers in the NCAA. Currently she competes for the York Lions in the CIS.
Playing career[]
From 2001 to 2003, she was a member of the Vancouver Griffins. In 2004-05, she competed for the BC Breakers of the Western Women's Hockey League. In addition, she was the captain for Team British Columbia at the Under 18 National Championships.
NCAA[]
Unruh joined the Mercyhurst Lakers in 2005. In her freshman season, she registered four goals and four assists while appearing in all 37 games.[1] During the season, she scored one power play goal and two game winning goals. On October 15, 2005, Unruh had a two point game (one goal, one assist) vs. Clarkson.
CIS[]
During the 2010-11 season, Unruh was captain of the York Lions. On November 7, she netted the game winning goal as the Lions defeated the Queen’s Golden Gaels in a 4-3 overtime triumph.[2]
Hockey Canada[]
Unruh represented Team Canada twice at the World Universiade (2009 and 2011, respectively) and won gold in both tournaments.[3] Of note, on February 27, 2009, Unruh scored the game winning goal versus host country China in the Gold medal game at the 2009 world university games. The game winning goal was scored in the second period. [4]
