The Continental Hockey League (CnHL) was a league based in the United States. Founded in 1972 as an amateur league, the CHL gained the semi-pro status in the 1980s.

Folding and aftermath[edit | edit source]

After the league folded in 1986, three of its teams, the Danville Fighting Saints, the Dayton Jets and the Troy Sabres went on to found the All-American Hockey League. That league was short-lived and has led to the creation of the East Coast Hockey League.
