The Cold Lake Aeros are a junior hockey team that began play with the 2018-19 season. The team is a member of the Provinces Division of the Western States Hockey League (WSHL) after originally being announced as a member of the stand alone Western Provinces Hockey Association. The team is based out of the Cold Lake Energy Centre in Cold Lake, Alberta after being previously being based out of the Repsol Place in Edson, Alberta.[1]

The team was announced by the WSHL as being approved to relocate to Cold Lake on July 28, 2021.[2] The relocation came about as a result of the town of Edson requiring multiple potential junior hockey teams to submit a business proposal to determine which organization would secure an exclusive lease at Repsol Place. The town issued notification that the town decided not to offer any team the exclusive use of the arena and that the team would have to put in scheduling request through normal booking procedures and without any consideration beyond normal booking rates.[3]

The team would form the Can-Am Junior Hockey League along with the other five remaining members of the WSHL on January 5, 2022.[4]
