The Coach in hockey refers to a head coach or an assistant coach given the responsibility of organizing player offense and defense. Positioning and Playing tactics are a big part in today's game of hockey. The coach must be up to date on strategy.
Formerly a player could also be the coach, a practice rarely used today. He would be called a player-coach.
