Chris Wells born in 1968 in Canton, New York, is a hockey coach that has served as the St. Lawrence Saints women's ice hockey team head coach. He is an alumi of St. Lawrence University. As a player he was a member of the 1992 ECAC Hockey Men's Ice Hockey Tournament champion St. Lawrence Saints men's ice hockey team.

After graduating from St. Lawrence in 1992 he would play in Europe as a professional where he played for the Bracknell Bees and the Slough Jets. Upon retirement after the 1993-94 season he became an assitant coach at Colgate University where he stayed from 1994 to 1998. He then served as an men's assistant coach at Western Michigan University for the 1998-99 season and then returned to St. Lawrence in 1999 to become an assistant coach. He was name associate head coach of the men's team in January of 2003.

Following the 2007–08 season, Head Coach Paul Flanagan left St. Lawrence to a position with Syracuse University. Flanagan was, at the time, the women's program's all-time winningest coach with a nine-season record of 230–83–24. Then Men's Associate Head Coach, Chris Wells was appointed to replace him and in his first season coached the team to a berth in the national championship tournament with a record of 24–11–3.


He has a record of 259-202-67 at St. Lawrence as of the end of the 2022-23 playing season. He became the program's winningest head coach during the 2021-22 playing season.
