History[edit | edit source]

The team was originally founded as the Wisconsin Rampage based in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin as a member of the Great Lakes Junior Hockey League in 2009. The team was a member of the league until the league announced they switching to inline hockey as a cost savings measure for the owners and the players. The Rampage were one of nine league teams to jump to the Minnesota Junior Hockey League for the 2012-13 season. The team announced a relocation to Crystal Lake, Illinois for the 2014-15 season but the team would end up sitting out the season. The team was one of the teams to jump to the USPHL Midwest Division. The team would end up being relocating to West Dundee, Illinois and would be renamed the Chicago Cougars adopting the name and colors of the former World Hockey Association team that played from 1972-1975 before folding. The team moved to the USPHL Elite Division when the USPHL Midwest Division was reorganized for 2016-17.
