The Charlestown Chiefs are a former pro hockey team based out of the War Memorial in Charlestown, Pennsylvania that played in the Federal League. Due to the factory in town shutting down the team would fold at the end of the 19??-?? season. The team would defeat the Syracuse Bulldogs to win the playoff championship of the Federal League.
Cinderella Swan Song[]
The team would acquire the Hanson Brothers (Jack, Jeff, and Steve) for a "used puck bag" from an unidentified team in the Iron League. The team would hit their stride when the Hanson Brothers formed a line and the team raised their level of physicality to an unheard of level. Led by the scoring of Ned Braden, the team would go on a hot streak that lead them in to the finals against their arch-rivals the Syracuse Bulldogs. Bad blood had resulted from player-coach Reggie Dunlop placing a bounty on the head of Tim "Dr. Hook" McCracken, player coach of the Bulldogs and chief punk of the team according to Dunlop, prior to an earlier game in the series. The Bulldogs loaded their roster for the grudge match by loading up on some of the toughest players the Federal League has ever produced. McCracken added Ross "Mad Dog" Madison, Clarence "Screaming Buffalo" Swamptown, Andre "Poodle" Lussier, Gilmore Tuttle, and Ogie Ogilthorpe who was acquired by the team after serving a lengthy suspension. The deciding game would end up being won by the Chiefs when the official declared a for forfeit by the Bulldogs when player-coach Tim McCracken protested the striptease being performed by Charlestown player Ned Braden during a bench clearing brawl. and struck the official from behind.
Despite media reports of a possible sale to a "unidentified Southern Retirement Community" the organization would officially announce it was folded the day following the championship victory.
The team would hold a victory parade where it was revealed that Reggie Dunlop got a coaching job with the Minnesota Nighthawks and that he was planning on bringing many of the players with him to Minneapolis.
