The Charleston Colonials are a junior hockey organization announced by the ownership group of the Charlotte Rush of the United States Premier Hockey League as beginning play in the USPHL's Premier and Elite Divisions for the 2019-20 season.[1]
Originally, the Charleston Mariners were announced as beginning play with the 2018-19 season. The team was to be a member of the Eastern Hockey League. The team is based out of the Carolina Ice Palace.
The team would later post on its website that "The Charleston Mariners will participate in the 2019-20 season at the Junior A level. Unfortunately, the timing was not appropriate for a 2018-19 season targeted start date."[2]
