This page is to breakdown the various playoffs in the Provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island for qualification for the Memorial Cup from 1932 through 1970 when Major Junior teams became the only teams eligible to compete for the Memorial Cup.

The province of Newfoundland did not join into Canadian Federation until 1949.  The Newfoundland Amateur Hockey Association did not join with the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association until 1967.  The junior provincial championship for Newfoundland is the Veitch Memorial Trophy.  The teams in the province competed at the Junior "B" level until 1971 and were thus ineligible to compete for the Memorial Cup during the pre-Major Junior Era.  Thus the first team to be eligible for the Memorial Cup in Newfoundland was the St. John's Fog Devils of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the 2005-06 season.
