The Castleton Spartans are a Men's Division III team in the New England Hockey Conference which was known as ECAC East until 2015. The team represents Castleton University located in Castleton, Vermont. The team plays out of the Spartan Arena in Rutland, Vermont, located about a 15-20 minute drive from campus. The school was renamed from Castleton State College to Castleton University on July 23, 2015.

Men's program[]

The men's program was established for the 2003-04 season. The team played an independent schedule for the first season and joined the then ECAC East for the 2004-05 season. The team suffered through back to back winless seasons to get the program off the ground. The team reached it first conference tournament in 2006. The team's best season to date was 2010-11 when they finished 2nd in the conference with a 15-3-1 record and a 22-4-1 record overall. The team reached their first conference final in 2012 when they lost to the Norwich Cadets in the championship game.

The team will join the Little East Conference when it commences play with the 2025-26 playing season.[1]
