Men's programEdit

The men's program was established for the 2003-04 season.  The team played an independent schedule for the first season and joined the then ECAC East for the 2004-05 season.  The team suffered through back to back winless seasons to get the program off the ground.  The team reached it first conference tournament in 2006. The team's best season to date was 2010-11 when they finished 2nd in the conference with a 15-3-1 record and a 22-4-1 record overall.  The team reached their first conference final in 2012 when they lost to the Norwich Cadets in the championship game. For more detail please see Castleton Spartans men's ice hockey.

Women's programEdit

The women's program was also established for the 2003-04 season but they played a club schedule for the first season.  The team joined the then ECAC East for the 2004-05 season, playing a partial conference schedule for that first season.  The team made the conference final in 2014 and 2015 losing to the undefeated regular season conference champion Norwich Cadets both years.

DJ Fimiani resigned as head coach on March 20, 2017.  Ashley Salerno (Vermont '14) was named head coach on May 9, 2017. For more detail please see Castleton Spartans women's ice hockey.
