Case Western Reserve University is a private research university located in Cleveland, Ohio. The university was formed by the 1967 merger of Western Reserve University which was founded in 1826 and the Case Institute of Technology which was founded in 1880. Well prior to the merger of the two institutions both institutions sponsored men's ice hockey briefly early in the 20th century.
