The Carolina Thunderbirds are a minor league professional hockey team located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina that announced to start playing in the Federal Hockey League beginning in the 2017–18 season.[2] Their home games are to be played at the LJVM Coliseum Annex.

The team announced their nickname and logo in September of 2016. They announced the final color scheme after a contest was held in early October.
