The Canada Cup was an international tournament held between 1976 and 1991. It would bring together the top hockey nations in the world in a tournament.
Canada Cup was held 5 times, i.e. in 1976, 1981, 1984, 1987 and 1991 and would have 6 teams entering: Canada, Czechoslovakia, Finland, the Soviet Union, Sweden and the United States. The 1984 tournament was the only exception, with West Germany competing instead of Finland. Canada won all of the editions, except that of 1981, which was won by the Soviet Union.
It was replaced in 1996 by the World Cup of Hockey.
