Caleb Chase Moffat (b. March 17, 1983 Oakville, Ontario, Canada and d. April 23 2009 Atlanta, Georgia) was a professional ice hockey forward.
Caleb played junior hockey for the (2000-01)Capital Centre Pride of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), the (2001 - 2003) Baie-Comeau Drakkar of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) and the (2003-04) Prince George Spruce Kings of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL).
Caleb signed with his first professional team the Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) playing in 36 games in the 2004-05 season and scoring 5 goals, recording 5 assists aquired 174 penalty minutes. He completed the season playing for the Odessa Jackalopes of the Central Hockey League (CHL) scoring 1 goals and aquired 29 penalty minutes.
Calab started to playing with the Jackalopes for the 2005-06 season but returned back to the FireAntz and ended the season with the Corpus Christi Rayz also of the CHL. In 2006-07 Calab palyed 6 games for the Jacksonville Barracudas of the SPHL.
Calab missed the 2007-08 season after he drove his car off a road near his Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida apartment. Doctors think that he may have been "sleep-driving," a condition that can occur while taking medication. His car struck two power poles and a traffic control box. Calab was not wearing a safety belt and was ejected from his car via the sun roof.
Calab came back from his car wreck and played 18 games with the Knoxville Ice Bears (SPHL) in the 2008-09 season with 2 assists and 72 penalty minutes. He was then released January 6, 2009 after a stint on injured reserve.
Calab died in his sleep April 23, 2009 at his mother's house in Atlanta. At the time of this writing (May 5, 2009) autopsy results were not complete.
