Brian Pothier (b. April 15th 1977 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, United-States) is a professional defenceman who plays in the National Hockey League for the Washington Capitals.
A graduate from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Pothier was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Atlanta Thrashers during the 1999-00 season. He was traded to the Ottawa Senators in 2002-03 for Shawn McEachern. In the summer of 2006, he signed as a free agent with Washington.
